As part of expanding cooperation with India, Sverdlovsk Oblast authorities intend to expand their partnership in IT and pharmaceuticals. Deputy Governor Vasily Kozlov announced this following a meeting with the new Indian Consul General in Yekaterinburg, Debabrata Chattopadhyay.
«As children, we always saw India as a country of happy people who longed to be our friends. Many years have passed, but we in the Urals see India as a country that will cooperate with us for many years to come. The decision to open a Consulate General is a step in this direction. We discussed the need to step up our efforts in education, tourism, and culture. In addition to culture and education, we would like to discuss [with our Indian partners] cooperation in IT, new projects in the pharmaceutical sector, and offer all our developments and equipment from our factories,» the Deputy Governor said.
He believes that opening an Indian Consulate General in Yekaterinburg will strengthen the industrial cooperation of both countries. First and foremost, this is due to the country’s partnership with the Sverdlovsk region, Kozlov believes.
