MINSK, January 26 – Sputnik. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko noted the potential for cooperation between Belarus and India in industry, agriculture, and security, the presidential press service reported.
Lukashenko sent a message of congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Republic Day, noting that India’s achievements in economics, innovation, and social affairs are an example for many countries.
«This holiday embodies the centuries-old wisdom of Indian civilization, which serves as a solid foundation for the world’s largest democracy,» the statement read.
As the BRICS chair, India actively contributes to the creation of a multipolar and just world, the Belarusian leader emphasized, adding that Belarus is proud of its long-standing friendly relations with the Indian people.
He also noted that cooperation between the two countries continues to develop and acquire new meaning, particularly in key areas such as industry, digitalization, agriculture, and security.
Lukashenko also expressed hope to meet with Narendra Modi at the BRICS summit.
Concluding his congratulatory address, the head of state wished Modi and the friendly people of India peace and prosperity.
Republic Day in India, celebrated on January 26, is one of the country’s most important public holidays. On this day, India completed its transition from British dominion status to an independent democratic republic by adopting its Constitution.
